Is There Any Value In Carb Cycling?

To me it’s a topic that really makes sense and the more I look into it and the better results I get personally and with clients the more I am convinced that carb cycling definitely works.

Check out this theory.

Most people really want to get fat loss results right?

But what do a lot of people eat for dinner?

A massive plate of food that has plenty of starchy carbs like rice, noodles, pasta or some other type of starchy carbs.

I know that here in Australia, as with a lot of other western countries, if not all, the tradition is to have your biggest meal at dinner time which doesn’t really make sense to me.

Why take in a massive amount of calories an hour or 2 before you are going to bed when you are not going to be exerting much energy?

It just doesn’t make sense.

So dinner and your healthy eating plan in general should be made up of lean meat and plenty of veggies if you are really looking to crank up your fat loss results .

Ditch the pasta, bread, rice (yep even brown rice) and any other major carb source you want to mention at night time is a must.

The starchy carbs are the ones that have to go and only then will you start to see yourself reach your true fat loss potential.

Go to town and eat as much veggies as you please. Those carbs are all good and all the fibre included will definitely help fill you up.

Aim for your major carb hit at breakfast or lunch. Make it once a day only if you are really interested in dropping some fat.

Then on a big training day you will be able to add a bit extra without blowing the budget so to speak.

If you have just done a big training session your meal straight after that is the best time to get in your carbs.

What’s your take on this?

Am i right or off with the fairies or on the money when it comes to carb cycling. What works for you?

I tend to keep carbs low all the time mainly because I just don’t like the way they make me feel. I find I operate better and my workouts are stronger when low carb. I also like to train in the fasted state too.

    • interesting approach Alan – never got into the fasting before training thing for the most part however that depends on what I ate the night before. It’s obviously working for you though
